Visitors to the camp were given a sneak preview to the prototype new version of the Nissen hut from the Nissen family. This version of the hut is a modular insulated design for Eco friendly garden offices and glamping pods, which follows the design concepts of the original. George Nissen (great grandson of Peter Nissen, the designer of the original hut) designed the garden offices to meet planning restrictions around the country, allowing people to expand their homes without going through planning.
The Nissen family partnered with local manufacture Raving Mad About Ltd to start production of these huts or pods out of Cultybraggan camp. Mark Lynch from Raving Mad About Ltd said “We are happy to be manufacturing the new Nissen huts in our workshop, based in the original design of huts, out of Cultybraggan camp, it just adds to the pedigree of the new huts, and we are seeing our customers love this. Manufactured from sustainably source timber and insulated with sheep’s wool, these huts will be warm and cosy to work in, even during a snowy winters day.”.
Delivery of the first huts will be later this month and takes just a few hours to erect by a team of 2 people. In the concept of the original huts being delivered on a single 3.5 ton truck, the new style huts come in a single van to any main land location in the UK and a fully useable by the end of the day.
