Comrie Skate & Bike Group

a

The Comrie Skate & Bike Group, comprising of local youngsters and parents, are working towards having their own skatepark within the village and are now delighted to confirm that planning for the skate park has been approved!

a

Now fundraising begins in earnest – costing options are being looked at and the youngsters are looking at how to involve parents as this next phase will require more active support from them.  Discussions are underway through the Chair  of the Sports Working Group to be part of the SportScotland Community Sports Hub application.

a

The group had a meeting with the local Laggan Park Committee who gave formal agreement that that they are supportive of the proposed resiting of the skate park in the SE corner of Laggan Park. The proposal from the young people includes no skating when cricket is on which will be clearly signposted to that effect. Entry would be the same as for all other activities to Laggan Park.

a

During the process to gain planning consent the skate and bike group carried out a petition door to door around some of the village and gained support from the overwhelming majority of people. The group gathered around 200 signatures although sadly technically a petition is only treated as one signature. Fantasically a couple of older gentlemen who wondered if sessions for geriatrics might be run as they used to roller blade in their younger days!!
