Since it began Comrie Youth Theatre has provided many great performances in the community. One of their biggest challenges was putting on the musical ‘Bugsy Malone’ at the beginning of 2010 but the group worked really hard and pulled off a great performance.

Summer 2010 saw the group putting on an environmental piece called ‘Who says it Rubbish?’ which was devised and scripted by the group, with the help of Fiona Walton. Fiona is a professional director who has produced River City for the BBC. As the play was run on an environmental theme the group were very fortunate to receive a small amount of money from Carbon Challenge Fund to help towards the cost of this production. The group had a great time performing it at Culty Quake and gained a lot of experience.

The group has enjoyed a series of workshops by YDance, culminating in their performance at the CDT AGM in October 2010 and a short performance for family and friends. YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) is the National Dance Agency for children and young people in Scotland, so we were very fortunate to get them along for the youth group – this was made possible by a grant the group received from the Comrie Foundation.
