Bumper Harvest Forecast

28/08/2020

The Orchard Group were able to continue with activities despite the lockdown. The enthusiastic volunteers continued the maintenance work in the orchard – going down in pairs or individually.  Fortunately, the winter pruning of the apple and pear trees had been completed prior to lockdown, and the good news is that it looks as though there will be a great apple harvest this year.

There was a beautiful show of yellow rattle flowers in the main orchard this year, and plenty of wild flowers on the Beetlebank too.

The monthly Work Days (first Sunday of each month, whatever the weather!) were recommenced in June, with social distancing.  The last two work days saw scything of the long grass amongst the trees.
