Comrie Development Trust (CDT) is looking for two staff members with the skills and experience to work on delivering the next phase in developing the community owned and historic 50 acre site at Cultybraggan in its great Perthshire location surrounded by mountains. The ex-POW Camp now hosts a range of community groups and activities, alongside 26 businesses, and welcomes heritage and event visitors.
These are full-time posts, supported by Perth & Kinross LEADER funding for an initial 12 month period, with the potential for an extension over a second year.
The Project Planning and Development Manager will be responsible for project managing the repair and refurbishment of 11 B listed Nissen huts, working with consultants to complete comprehensive plans for improvements to the physical infrastructure at Cultybraggan, promoting business growth and line managing the project officer for heritage and events. The post holder should be a degree holder, preferably in relevant subject, and have direct work experience in project management, planning, problem-solving, organising, negotiating, decision-making, communicating and managing will all be important skills.
The Heritage Activity and Events Organiser will be responsible for delivering CDT’s Heritage Activity and Training Plan, which will provide opportunities to increase knowledge and appreciation of the camp: via signage, storyboards and phone apps for people exploring the site; via more in-depth educational resources, including information packs and ‘hands on history’ workshops; via specialised training for the volunteers who lead camp tours for the public, special interest groups and media representatives; and through archaeological survey investigating the location of three escape tunnels. The work will also include broader event planning and promotion of the site’s open spaces and certain camp properties as venues for both major and minor events, building on their current uses for these purposes. Any applicant should be a degree holder, preferably in a relevant subject, and have direct work experience in project development and event management Planning, problem-solving, organising, negotiating, decision-making, communicating and managing will all be important skills.
Both posts are full-time, funded for an initial 12 month period, with the potential for an extension over a second year, subject to funding availability. The job functions in both posts will involve working alongside CDT’s Finance Officer and Estate Manager, and with various Trust, site user and community groups, particularly the Self Catering Project Group, Comrie Heritage Group and the CDT Events Group, on planning the next phase of heritage and events development.
