Over the last few weeks, Comrie Community Orchard volunteers set up a stall in St. Kessogs Square and sold some of the Orchard’s lovely plums and Discovery apples.
What a great chance this was for locals to buy some of the amazing fruit from the Orchard and meet some of the lovely people who have worked so enthusiastically over the years to bring the orchard to this productive phase.
More recently, the Orchard Group displayed some lovely Jam in the CDT office which flew off the shelf and money from their sale was donated back into the orchard! Fantastic work!
COMRIE APPLE DAY
Sunday 25 OCTOBER
Back for its 5th Year, Comrie Apple Day will be held on Sunday 25th October this year from 11am until 2pm. As usual volunteers will be crushing and juicing apples from the Community Orchard and from apple donations around the village and wider community at Cultybraggan Camp.
Got apples to be collected? If you have any apples that you would like picked and crushed for juicing on Apple Day call Derek on 07836 651 544 or if would like to volunteer to help on the run up to the event phone the CDT office 01764 670 769 or email emma_margrett10@hotmail.com
WINE BOTTLES/PLASTIC CATRON COLLECTION
As we will be bottling fresh apple juice on Apple Day we are on the look out for clean empty wine bottles and plastic cartons. If you have any, please drop them into the CDT office between the hours of 10AM-2PM, Monday to Friday in the run up to Apple Day.
APPLE PRODUCTS
We would love to hear from anybody who would be happy to cook, bake or make any tasty apple products to be sold on Apple Day……such goodies as apple pies, apple crumble, apple tarts, apple chutney, toffee apples – anything apple based.
Cooking apples from the Community Orchard are available from the CDT office. Please contact Di on 01764 670 967 if you’re interested.
Most of all, please come along on Sunday 25th October – we look forward to seeing you!
Thank you to Cultybraggan Allotmenteers for allowing us the use of their huts for Apple Day!
