Remember how cold it was last winter?
We are reminding residents in Comrie that the best way to save heat, save money and stay warm is to ensure your loft is insulated to 270mm ( 11 inches).
In the past, residents in our community took advantage of a deal that CDT negotiated with Scottish and Southern Energy to subsidise the cost of loft insulation for Comrie residents. Sixty per cent of those who have had their lofts insulated were in priority groups, this meant that they paid a little or nothing at all to have insulation put into their homes.
According to the Energy Savings Trust, insulating your loft is one of the most cost effective ways to reduce energy costs and save money.
Other energy providers offer similar schemes to the one that CDT had through SSE and some contractors also get grants from the energy providers to subsidise costs. DIY is also an option for the fit and able.

Comments from Comrie residents who now have insulated lofts:
“ With talk of another cold winter we are so pleased we had our loft insulated with help from the CDT, it didn’t take long and the Clyde Insulation guys were very quick and tidy.” Andrea Findlay
“ I was happy to have the extra loft insulation organised for me through CDT and I am sure I will benefit from less heating loss and less cost during the winter months.” Patricia Scott
“I insulated the loft myself. All I did was roll out the insulation in my loft, it didn’t take long and wasn’t especially difficult. We don’t measure the heat in any particular way but we definitely noticed an increase in heat in the upstairs rooms.”
