You’ve Been Trumped

16/02/2012

In partnership with the Comrie Cinema Club and the Take One Action film festival, the Comrie Development Trust presents: You’ve been Trumped.

Described as a “David and Goliath story for the 21st century” it tells the story of the residents of the Menie Estate as they deal with billionaire celebrity tycoon Donald Trump and his plans to build a golf course on the “globally unique landscape that has been the backdrop of their lives”.

… a group of proud Scottish homeowners take on billionaire celebrity tycoon Donald Trump as he buys up one of Scotland’s last wilderness areas to build a golf resort.

After the Scottish Government overturns its own environmental laws to give Trump the green light, the stage is set for an extraordinary summer of discontent, as the bulldozers spring into action, water gets shut off and the police descend on the home owners who, in direct homage to the film Local Hero, refuse to sell their land.

With a stunning score by Sigor Ross frontman Jonsi, this is a rare and revealing glimpse into absolute power on Scottish soil that raises the enormous question: whose rules rule in Scotland today?

Take One Action Film Festivals is Scotland’s global action cinema project, celebrating the people and the movies that are changing the world.

Established in 2008 and based in Edinburgh, Take One Action Film Festival is now the UK’s leading internationalist film festival with a unique focus on engaging the public with international development issues through the lens of world-class cinema.

The Take One Action Festival Tour takes the best of the annual film festival on the road, bringing new films to audiences across Scotland. This special Comrie Cinema Club/CDT screening will be followed by a discussion of the issues raised in the film. Don’t miss your chance to see the film The List is calling “The most important film… this or any other year”
